When daycare sends them home and you still have a shift. Premium applies. This is not emergency medicine.

The same window each week is held for your family. Reliability is the product, not last-minute scrambling.

This works if
- You need evenings, weekends, early mornings, or a sick day at home
- You want the same person each week, in your house
- You can book a 4-hour block and pay weekly in advance
- Work hours do not match a 7-to-6 centre
This is not
- Drop-off daycare or $22/day CWELCC coverage
- A 90-minute sit while you run an errand
- A nanny-share with another family’s children in the same house
- Driving children to school or activities in year one
Process
Four steps. Then the same hours every week.
- Request the neighbourhood, ages, and weekly window.
- Short call. If it fits, Kunj meets you in your home.
- Written contract. First week paid in advance.
- She arrives for the held hours. Cancel 24–48 hours ahead or the slot is billed.
Rates
Charged by the hour for the household, not per child.
Base rate is the first child. Extra children and premiums are fixed. All figures in CAD.

4-hour minimum
Every visit is billed at least four hours. Shorter drop-ins are not offered.
Weekly prepay
Recurring families are billed each week in advance for held slots.
24–48 hour cancel
Late cancels and no-shows are charged so the slot is not left empty.
No transport yet
Children are not driven until the right auto coverage is in place.
Area
Ottawa homes first. Distance is part of the yes or no.
Starting close so travel does not eat the shift. Evenings near the Civic, General, CHEO, Queensway, or Montfort are a priority.

The caregiver
Kunj Kalra. One person, not a roster.
Care by Kunj is a personal support worker who likes kids. Your family works with her. That is the offer.
- PSW background — calm with routines, meds lists, and children who do not feel well.
- Before the first paid visit: vulnerable sector check, standard first aid with infant and child CPR, caregiver liability insurance.
- Care only for children who live in the home.
- Not a Ministry-licensed daycare or home child care agency.
Questions
Before you book.
Is this a licensed daycare?
No. Care is in your home, for your children only. In Ontario, a nanny or babysitter hired for one family’s children in that family’s home is not a licensed child care program. This is not a home child care agency.
Do you look after more than one family in the same house?
No. Mixing children from different families would change the legal category. One home, the children who live there.
Can you start with a trial evening?
Yes, as a paid 4-hour minimum. After that a recurring weekly slot is preferred. One-offs are available when the calendar allows, at the short-notice premium if booked under 24 hours.
What ages do you take?
Infants through school age, depending on the mix in the home and the hours requested. Put ages and naps in the request.
Do you cook, clean, or drive?
Light meal prep for the children and tidying what was used during the visit is included. House cleaning is not. Driving children is not offered yet.
What if my child is sick?
Kunj can often still come so you can work. That visit is billed at the sick-child premium. If the child needs urgent medical care, call 911 or go to emergency.

Capacity is small. Recurring weekly hours are filled first. You get a reply about whether the time and neighbourhood work.
